Terms & Conditions
Terms & Conditions
The ground rules for using this website and for working with me, written to be read.
The short version: I build your site before you pay. You only pay if you want it, at a price we agreed in writing first. Once it’s paid for, it’s yours. The monthly plan is optional and you can stop it anytime. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you.
About these terms
JT Web Co. is a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Jayden Bui, based in Derby, Kansas. In these terms, “I”, “me” and “my” mean JT Web Co., and “you” means the person or business using this website or hiring me.
These terms cover two things: using this website, and the website services I provide. By using the website or hiring me, you agree to them. My Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Refund Policy are part of these terms.
To hire me, you need to be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms for your business.
Using this website
This website is here to explain what I do. I work to keep it accurate, but prices and details aren’t an offer. The only prices that count are the ones in your written quote.
Please don’t misuse the site: no trying to break or overload it, send spam through the form, or copy its content or design for your own use. The text, design and graphics on this site belong to JT Web Co., except for the open-source fonts and icons listed under Credits and licenses.
Links to other websites are there for convenience. I don’t control those sites and I’m not responsible for their content.
The sample sites
The sample sites on the Work page are for fictional businesses. Their names, phone numbers, prices, hours, services and other details are made up to show what a website can look like. They aren’t real businesses, offers or clients, and any resemblance to a real business is a coincidence.
Quotes and our agreement
Before I start building, I confirm by text or email what I’ll build, the one-time build fee, and the monthly plan price if you want it. That confirmation is your quote. Your quote and these terms together are our agreement. If they ever conflict, your quote wins.
The build fee in your quote doesn’t change for the work described in it. If you ask for something beyond that, like extra pages or features, I’ll quote it before doing it, and you decide.
Build first, pay only if you want it
I build your site before you pay anything. When it’s ready, I send you a link to review it, and I’ll make reasonable adjustments to what we agreed so it’s right before you decide.
If you decide not to go ahead, you owe nothing. I won’t publish the site with your name on it, and I’ll delete the logo, photos and other content you sent me within 30 days, or sooner if you ask.
Payment
Build fee: due when you approve the finished site, before it goes live on your domain.
Monthly plan: paid a month at a time.
How to pay and exact due dates are in your quote or invoice. Prices may be subject to sales tax where the law requires it.
If a monthly payment is more than 30 days late, I’ll remind you first. If it still isn’t paid, the plan ends as if you’d cancelled it, and I hand the site over to you (see Leaving). I won’t take your site down to pressure you into paying.
The monthly care plan
The monthly plan is optional. While you’re on it, it includes:
- Hosting your website
- Backups
- Renewing and managing the domain for your site
- Content updates, with no charge per change
Content updates means changes to what’s already on your site: text, hours, prices, contact details, menus or service lists, swapping or adding photos you provide, and notices like holiday closures. I make them within a reasonable time after you ask.
Not included (quoted separately, before any work): new pages, new sections or features, redesigns, online booking or shop setups, connecting new outside services, and writing large amounts of new content from scratch.
You can cancel anytime, with no minimum term and no fee. Cancelling is covered in the Refund Policy.
Who owns what
Your site: once the build fee is paid, you own the finished website that was made for you, including its design and content, and you can have a copy of its files at any time.
Your domain: registered in your name, as the domain’s owner. While you’re on the monthly plan, I manage it for you.
Your content: your logo, photos and text stay yours. You give me permission to use them to build, run and update your site.
Third-party parts: some parts of a website are other people’s work used under their licenses, like open-source fonts, icons and code. You can keep using them under those licenses.
My general know-how: I can keep reusing my own general techniques and code that aren’t specific to your business.
My portfolio: I may show your finished, live site in my portfolio and link to it, unless you tell me not to.
Your content and your business claims
You’re responsible for the content you give me and for what your business says on its site. By sending me content, you confirm that:
- You own it or have permission to use it. Photos copied from Google or other websites usually aren’t yours to use, even if you found them online.
- It’s accurate and lawful, including prices, licenses, certifications and any claims about your products or services.
I can decline content I believe is unlawful or infringes someone else’s rights. I’m not a lawyer and don’t give legal advice. If your site needs its own privacy policy or other legal pages, you’re responsible for making sure they fit your business.
Hosting, domains and other services
Websites rely on outside services, like hosting providers, domain registrars and form services, and their own terms apply. If one of them has an outage or changes how it works, I’ll work to get your site running again as soon as reasonably possible, but I don’t control those services.
Domain transfers follow registrar and industry rules, which can sometimes delay a move. For example, a domain that was recently registered or transferred can’t be moved to a different registrar until a waiting period has passed.
Leaving
You can stop working with me at any time. When you do, I’ll give you your site’s files and start moving your domain to you or to whoever you choose, with no handover fee. Nothing gets switched off to make a point: I keep your site online during the handover, and we agree a date for when my hosting ends.
What I can’t promise
I build every site with care, but I can’t promise specific results like search rankings, website traffic, calls, leads or sales. Those depend on things outside my control, like search engines and your market.
Your rights under the law
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any right or remedy you have under the Kansas Consumer Protection Act or any other law that can’t be limited by agreement.
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Disputes
If something isn’t right, please talk to me first. Most problems get fixed with a phone call. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas. If a dispute can’t be resolved between us, it will be handled in the courts of Sedgwick County, Kansas, unless the law gives you the right to bring it somewhere else.
Changes to these terms
I may update these terms and will change the date at the top when I do. Changes don’t affect a quote you’ve already agreed to, and they don’t apply to work already paid for.
