How it works

Here’s exactly how this goes.

Nothing to sign up front and no deposit. This is the whole thing, from your first text to the day the site goes live, including what happens if you look at it and decide you don’t want it.

Step by step

From your first text to live.

Usually under a week from the first call to a link you can open. Longer if photos need taking, or if it’s a big site.

  1. Day 1 · about 10 minutes

    We talk

Call or text me. I’ll ask what your business does, who you want coming through the door, and what the site needs to say. If you already have one, I’ll pull it up while we talk.

Before we hang up you get both prices: the one-time build fee and the optional monthly. If that’s more than you want to spend, we leave it there. If it isn’t, I text or email you the price and what’s included before I start.

  2. Within about a week

    I build it

The finished thing, not a mockup. Send me your logo and whatever photos you have. If you don’t have any, say so and we’ll work something out.

    • Your hours, services and phone number, written properly
    • Checked on real phones, not just a big monitor
    • Nothing for you to do while I work
  3. Whenever suits you

    You look at it

I send a link. Open it on your phone, show your partner, show your best customer, sit on it for a few days. If something’s wrong, tell me and I’ll fix it.

    You want it

It goes live under your name for the price we agreed. Whether I look after it monthly is a separate question, and you can answer that later.

    You don’t

You don’t owe me anything and I won’t keep calling. No hard feelings, and you’re not out a cent.

  4. After it’s live

    It keeps working

If you’re on the monthly plan, you text me when something changes. New hours, a new photo, a price that went up, closed for the holidays. I update it, and there’s no charge per change.

If you skipped the plan, or you stop it later, the site is still yours. I hand over the files and move the domain so you can host it yourself or take it to somebody else.

Why I build it first

Why I do it backwards.

You shouldn’t have to pay for a website you haven’t seen.

Most web designers want a signed contract and a deposit before you’ve seen a thing.

Then you wait a few weeks and hope what comes back looks like what was in your head. I’d rather skip all that and just build it, so you’re judging a real website instead of a promise.

It keeps me honest, too. The only sites I put live are ones the owner looked at and actually liked.

Your side of it

What I need from you.

You’ll need

  • Ten minutes to tell me about the business
  • Your hours, services and the areas you cover
  • Your logo and photos, if you have them
  • A few minutes to look at the finished site

You won’t need

  • A long-term contract, a deposit or a card on file
  • A password for anything
  • To learn any software
  • To deal with hosting, renewals or settings

Get in touch

Let’s talk for ten minutes.

Tell me what you do and who you’re trying to reach. You’ll get both prices before I build anything.

Texting works best. You’ll normally hear back the same day.
